Sample Letter Of Church Membership Change

Do we need the bookseller Ebay?

I had a discussion with colleagues about "Ebay and the booksellers," I would put several theses in the room. Which would then discuss on all sides. Treating such a difficult issue like the Ebay complex from the perspective of the Antiquarian namely only columnist, is one further.

As so often, it is essential to avoid the deadly sin of our inheritance and professional discussions is not to distinguish between the types of books in the bookshop.

We take a look at

a) used more recent titles published after about 1950
b) predominantly older nichtbibliophile title ZVAB price below € 40-50
c) elderly bibliophile (or subject-based rare) tracks above 40-50 Euro
d) adiaphora / non-books as graphic sheets, maps, collecting pictures, booklets, postcards.

And my assumptions: first

used for more recent titles published after about 1950 (a) Ebay is totally unnecessary.

The prices obtained here are almost always clear, sometimes even frightening lower than that in the book database. Advantage: By cleverly inserting the Ebay special funds such as shops, "Buy Now", "offer", particularly through the basic procedure of the auction date is, who n the title is issued, a very rapid circulation of money can be achieved. (Note that the quasi-Paypal exerted "pressure" extends the time for the arrival of the proceeds to his own bank account in 5-7 days after auction date - at an average 5-day lead time (time offer), it takes 10-14 days to completion of the proceeds from the date of the setting.). Disadvantage: The fees allocated to actually selling a book are, including the entry fees for unsold titles, which have to be yes mitgezahlt, in the lower range of values often absurdly high. Together with the set-up time leads to quite nasty results. - The sales quota for the store sales on eBay is on conventional tracks at average prices ridiculously low. Conclusion: All other type is better for newer, average titles. Ebay only sell this stupid title.

second
transfer automation, that is' too-setting "of ZVAB titles, such as with the w + h-agents is possible, but leads to even worse results - because the images issue, but more importantly the subject matter adequately" automatically "can be solved. set title of the category (a) on Ebay, which one lists is not carefully into the eBay-functional groups and has / has no concerns or for which one (s) more expressive images are even worse sellable, if it was "low" is still an increase.

third
Older predominantly nichtbibliophile title ZVAB price below € 40-50 (b) are only appropriate sellable on Ebay if they a popular and / or collection area can be assigned. Books of category (b) outside the not-too-many popular and sellable collections are even worse than those of our category (a). The tragedy that took the test medium paragraph (b) title outside of the popular subjects Week after week, going on Ebay, is staggering. Only the unteachable folly of those who offer such title despite obviously absurd result lists again and again is even more shocking ... - A hidden feature on Ebay has the tools be any reasonable vendor. First, log in what it is trying to say that only registered eBay users can use the feature. We search for the custom of the "advanced search", but the clicks (affectionately concealed) box finished Offers "at. Then it becomes green in color, the whole tragedy ... - There have been months, possibly in connection with the Eichstätter mega-scandal, in which rows of neat Theology of the 17th century, some even in 1580, 1590 ... in good to excellent condition to 10 and 15 € left, with beautiful covers.

4th
Older bibliophile (or subject-based rare) tracks above 40-50 €, our group (c), go to a constant 50 - 60% of comparable average auction prices of auction houses such as the jaw level with Ebay on the stage. The persistent rumors circulating among booksellers, it would be as astronomical prices achieved for tomes, as customers are so stupid and so greedy Ebay are complete nonsense and not even apply in all the most popular collectibles. As if by magic, without exception, to stop all running offers in Ebay at the 2/3-Marge the usual auction house's net results. There are treacherous and can hardly explainable outliers down, the fall in individual cases great weight and hurt, like the panels to complete Scheuchzer Bible for 200 € in the USA, to what result I long to nibble had. Regular Price better boards around the € 80-120. Now, the individual cases, but after more than 3000 in some auction-worthy entries on Ebay I have noticed ex cathedra, that good old bibliophile (or subject-based rare) tracks above 40-50 € (group c) not more than 50-60% auction level to be achieved - and not a cent more on average.

5th
for non-books of any variety is ideal Ebay, the graph can only misery under which we all sigh for a decade, there also not be fixed. Otherwise, however, Ebay is a haven and sanctuary for all kinds of adiaphora.

A discussion on the theses will be 1-5, I think, necessarily lead to the following conclusions, which I must again lay down various propositions:

A. The setting of titles of the following categories on Ebay:

a) newer titles used published after about 1950
b) predominantly older nichtbibliophile title ZVAB price below € 40-50

is completely unnecessary, completely grotesque wrong and leads to much higher cost, significantly worse, absurd in the sum results. There are no technical or tactical means to remedy this plight.

For titles in category

c) older bibliophile (or subject-based rare) tracks above 40-50 €

is obtained with Ebay then wen n this title to a popular and / oer collection area belong, results after deducting all charges, even of unsold for the title, on average, about 40-50% of the result correspond to an average auction.

for title of the category d) is Ebay, as I said, is ideal.

B. With or without a shop, with or without photos of the colleague, the title to (a) and (b) sets on Ebay is not well advised. It must be said clearly.

for auction negotiable instruments from popular collectibles can be, if one is dependent on very easy money and wants to spend around 30-40% loss of value as of course very high indirect "interest" in purchasing ready to use Ebay. This is the case for me, but I do this with clear audible grinding of teeth.

C.
For almost all of our titles, so that (a) and (b), are sufficient other sales media available. It is enough to keep her hands off Ebay, what Consigning terms.

But what is missing - and this seems to me the core of any sensible discussion Ebay to be - is an auction database for Ebay model, which takes only a bibliophile and / or expensive titles. Here I would imagine even a simplistic oer good cooperative ownership. Which, in my estimation for expensive, sophisticated title grotesque useless and antiquated our database (along with its successors) could be replaced here for the German-speaking world by a modern instrument.

Conclusion: We do not need Ebay. Ebay harm in the field of antiquarian books only. However, we should not draw this conclusion without us to take care of the bibliophile area around a self-organized Ebay replacement.

* Postscript: Current
occasion for this paper is the report in "financial newspaper" network service , Department bookseller, about the article "Four eBay Book Selling Tips in Americana Exchange.
articles there, nice written and knowledgeable, the German antiquarian unfortunately leads grossly misleading. Almost none of the special features in the U.S. finds itself in the German Ebay Ebay once again, has in the book range in Ebay Germany made largely independently. Otherwise confused the constant reference on U.S. Ebay longer than any that would be useful to take note of it. Nevertheless, we read the article in the lovely Mrs Susan Halas liked. When German booksellers once write so calm and helpful, like the gang in the U.S. and there is?
